How to add a new location


To add a new asset location, go to the Assets module, then expand the sidebar menu and click on the Locations tab. 

The Locations page will open. Click on the Add New button in the top right corner of the Locations page. 


A modal window will open. 


Fill out the following fields: 

  • Parent Location – Select a parent location from the dropdown if applicable. 
  • Name – Give the location a name. 
  • Code – Enter a code which will identify the new location. If the new location has a parent location, the code will be populated. 
  • Description – You can add more details in the input box. 
  • Person Responsible – Select a person responsible for the new location, if applicable. 
  • Location Type – This field is mandatory as the locations can be filtered by type. Select one location type from: In Use, In Storage, Out of Service, Disposed, External Location and Unknown
  • Layout File – Files and layout plans can be attached here. 
  • External ID – Enter the new location’s external ID here if applicable. 
  • Specify exact location – You can select the options of All, Establishments, Addresses, Geocodes, Bias to map viewport and Strict bounds. Enter a location into the input field to view it on the map. 

Click Save
