What is a task


A task is an assigned piece of work to be finished within a certain time. Creating a task in a checklist run allows you to define what has to be done, in what way, by whom and at what time. You can set a due date for completion and decide on priority. Documents can be uploaded or a web link and video inserted to describe the task in as much detail as possible. The Editing Field offers many tools such as a full screen expansion, code view and more. A comprehensive task description allows for an easy transfer of the task assignment, as anyone new assigned to the task will know exactly how to proceed. 

How to add a task

To add a new task, go to the Checklists module and click on the checklist you would like to add a task to.


Click on the Tasks tab. You will see a list of tasks created for the checklist, grouped into sections. Click on Add Task under the section which you want to add the task to.


An Add New Task modal window will pop up. 


Fill out the following fields:  

  • Section - The selected section will be populated by default, but you can choose any section from the dropdown list that has been created for the checklist.  
  • Name - Give the task a name.  
  • Default Assignee - Select a default assignee from the dropdown list. You will see the Users Option or Teams.  
  • Priority - Choose one of the following: Critical, High, Low or Normal.  
  • Estimate (in Minutes) - Enter an estimate in minutes into this field or use the counter to define the value  
  • Due Date (in Days) - This consists of two fields. Enter number of days into the first field (or use the counter), which will relate to one of the options in the second days field: after run created date, after run due date, after section due date, before run created date, before run due date, before section due date, or start of the month. 
  • Attachment - Attach files here if applicable.  
  • Body of the task/ Description - Video files, weblinks, tables, text and instructions describing the task can be inserted into this box. 

Review the information and click on Save or click on Save & New to save the existing task and create a new task. To return to the Tasks tab, click Cancel. 

How to edit a task 

Select the task you want to edit and tap the at the end of the row. Click edit.  


A window containing information about the task will open. Edit the information as required and press Save or Save & New if you want to add a new task. Click Cancel to abort the action and to return to the Tasks tab.


How to delete a task 

Select the task that you want to delete and tap the ... at the end of the row. Click delete. 


A warning message will pop up. If you are sure you want to delete the task, click OK. Click Cancel to abort the action and to return to the Tasks tab.  

How to view the description of a specific task 

To view the description of a task click on the specific run in the Runs tab. Click on the title of the selected task whose description you want to view in the Run Tasks tab. 

The Run Task page will open. You can view the description in the middle section of the page. 

Note! You can add, delete or edit the description of the task in the Tasks tab of the specific checklist.  

How to add a comment or assignee to a specific task 

To add a comment or assignee to the task, click on the specific run in the Runs tab. Click on the title of the selected task in the Run Tasks tab. 


Click the Add Comment or Assignee in the top right corner of the Run Task page.  

A modal Add Comment or Assignee window will pop up. Select Assignee from the dropdown list or add comment, or both. When you finish click Save.  

Click Close to abort the action and to return to Run Task page. 

Another way to add a comment is to type it in the field at the bottom of the Run Task page and click Add Comment


How to add a result for a specific task from the Run Task page 

To add a result for a task, click on a specific run in the Runs tab. Click on the title of the selected task in the Run Tasks tab.  


At the bottom of the Run Task page, click Add Result.



A modal Add Result window will pop up. 


Fill out the following fields: 

  • Result – select as appropriate between Passed, Not Applicable, On Hold or Failed. 
  • Comment – leave a comment if applicable. 
  • Time for completion – enter time value for completing the task. To view how hover over … 
  • Attachment – drop or upload files in this field if necessary. 

When you finish click Save. Click Cancel to abort the action and to return to Run Task page.  

How to move between Run Tasks from a specific Run Task page 

Open a specific Checklist Run to view its tasks. 


Click on a task to view the Run Task page.   


Click the  next to the task title in the top left corner of the screen to view list of the run tasks. Click on the task to open it. This way you can switch between run tasks to view description, add comment, assignee or result.
